Apple forced by judge to run newspaper ads stating Samsung does not copy iPad

In an interesting twist, a U.K. judge on Wednesday ordered Apple (AAPL) to admit publicly that Samsung?s (005930KS) tablet designs do not copy the iPad. Bloomberg reports that Judge Colin Birss has ordered Apple to post a notice on its website and run ads in British newspapers stating that Samsung tablets do not copy Apple?s designs. The note on Apple?s site must remain present for six months, and the ?advertisement? Apple runs in various news papers was ordered to ?correct the damaging impression? Apple?s repeated copycat claims have given consumers regarding Samsung?s Android tablets. Despite the moral victory, the judge did not grant Samsung an injunction that would prevent Apple from publicly stating that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and similar devices infringe its design patents, Bloomberg said.
