Chuck it ALL for Your Own Home Based Business | Don Monteith Blog

Where do you begin?? A home based business is the choice of many new comers to the world of starting a new business.? The thought of working from home, not having to drive to an office downtown or even to another city for a place to work.

Many people are tired of the ?rat race? and are seeking a change.? Unfortunately, too many have no idea what to do next.? Everyone is NOT focused on running their own business.? In many cases it?s a lack of challenge, no real appreciation or lack of financial growth.

Close friends, family members, may be telling you or suggesting that you should be in your own business, be your own boss.? In my early career it happened to me and it did work out over time, which was good.? However,? it took going from President of a company, to the Regional Manager for a national firm before we ended up in our own business long-term.

Just be aware that every job, every career change, the majority of decisions we make in life are all subject to ?curves in the road? or where the ?rubber meets the road? called reality.

Why shouldn?t you profit from your ideas, make the big bucks for yourself, your family.? That sounds really great when it turns into your success story.? We have all witnessed the joys and happiness of success.? Most of us have witnessed or experienced loss, too.

With the risk involved in starting your own business we never encourage giving up the security of a regular paycheck.? That too can quickly change, we?ve been there, too, with a national firm suddenly changing direction on us and ?booting? us out.

?Security? is a misnomer for sure.? Your boss or company can change your future suddenly without advance notice and ?walk? you out the door.? We encourage, if possible, that you build your Plan B or financial future on ?the side? in your home based business.

First, spend time deciding what you really ?want to do?.? Your education, training, work experiences are all part of who you are.? If you decide to go in a ?new? direction then it takes E.U.I?. Education ? Understanding ? and the ability to Initiate, take ACTION.

Those who always change their minds or give up too easily when the going gets tough will never make it in their own business.? Maybe a personal inventory of ?who? you are can prove helpful in your decision making process.

If you?re a bit confused and not sure what you really want, ask yourself and write down the answers to the following questions that come to mind?.

1. What do? you get excited about?? 2. What makes you really happy? 3. What are you constantly thinking about?? 4. What do you enjoy doing?

Write down everything, no matter how unimportant it seems. Put all your desires on paper that answers any of the above questions.

It?s obvious that some career choices require specific education, years in college, so no need to write any of those down, like NFL quarterback or NBA pitcher, professor, etc.

Today, most of us are Internet savvy, we can do searches on the net.? Nothing wrong with getting input from family and friends, looking at a franchise opportunity or buying an existing business for sale, people do retire or want to move somewhere else.

Lots of friends will have advice and comments but it?s your decision, what you want that?s really important and matters most.? It?s your ?bed? or career choice for the future.?? You should concentrate on what you want, not what others want.

Remember, this is YOUR life.? There are seldom replays and you don?t get to do it over.
