Harmonic Pets | Bird Talk Magazine Closed

I am still saddened by the news that Bird Talk magazine has closed it?s doors. You see, it was Bird Talk which led me to my birds. I had just subscribed and in one of my first issues pionus parrots were featured. I wanted a bigger bird, but living in an apartment kept me from having one. Until the pionus. When I went to our bird club?s next fair, I found my bird, a blue head pionus. Braynon came home with me, and I?ve had him ever since. That was fifteen years ago.

About a year later Sandee Molena wrote an article on parrotlets for Bird Talk. Again, I was entranced and purchased my first parrotlet. Though that bird is no longer with me, I once again have parrotlets and never would have discovered these fun, delightful little birds without the magazine.

Some said that the magazine went to more ads, less articles over the years. And the online Bird Channel site (http://www.birdchannel.com) took over for the magazine. Yet, there are those who will miss the printed magazine and I am one of them. I am very sorry to see this stalwart presence in the bird world go and hope that something will come along to take its place.

Do you have a fond memory of Bird Talk? What bird did you enjoy seeing featured?

Share and Enjoy
